History of Swank's Cockers

Although our first puppy was a buff, John's

real love came with parti-colors, beginning with a playful black/white male we named Spot, (Ch. Sha-Don's Sugarbear of Swank's).  He was a very open marked puppy that finished his championship at 11 months-- owner handled.  We acquired him from a very generous couple in Springfield, MO, Don and Sue Groves.  They had a nice litter out of Ch. Signature Solitaire and Ch. Silver Maple Jolly Dolly.  This breeding provided us with a strong pedigree and showmanship to develop in our Cockers.  We were proud of this in both the show ring and as a companion dog in a home and family.  This parti- line blessed us with a red/white girl Ch. Swank's Short N' Sweet. Through this line we were able to buy a nice black/white girl Ch. Perje's Pixy from Jeff Wright who has produced us 6 beautiful black/white babies out of Ch. Moody's Hold On to Your Dreams.

Glenda has always liked black/tans because of her favorite Shenandoah's Silly Tilly.  From her we got Swank's Carmel Candy who produced quality blacks and ascobs.  Her littermate was Ch. Swank's Siscoe Kid.  After a serious home fire in 1988, we lost several dogs. It took us several years to recover from these loses.  From a friend we acquired Chantilly's Perfect Angel (Lacie).  She produced a beautiful buff bitch Swank's Miss Saigon (Kim) who was bred to Ch. Ashwood Thrilling Opportunity for a beautiful mix of black and ascob babies.  One really wonderful win from this breeding was a silver bitch we sold to Jeff Wright who went WB and BOS to Variety from the puppy class at the Indianapolis Summer ASC show in 2003.  We now have a litter from Ch. Swank's Black Beauty and Ch. Phoenix I'm a Fighter that look very promising.  This is a quick history of highlights of some our special dogs and the moments they have allowed us to share.
